[TIME SENSITIVE!] CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: I am editor at large for The Dirty Spoon and co-host of the new show, the Dirty Spoon Radio Hour, a 1-hour monthly show and website that features personal essays, interviews and creative nonfiction about food and food culture. Due to an interview falling through, we have an IMMEDIATE 1-2 openings for our August show (debuts August 3), and we are accepting submissions for September onward.
If you have an essay or article that is roughly 3-5 pages long (or would be about 8-10 minutes in length when read and recorded by one of our voice acting professionals) and it centers on food, food culture, or consumable culture in America...I would LOVE to read it.
This is open to writers living in the United States, and we especially love writers from the Southeast or who write about the Southeast.
We want diverse voices!
If your piece is accepted for publication, it will be published in its full text on the website, receive custom illustrated art to accompany the piece, and will be recorded for the show by our team (we may coordinate a phone intro with you as well). The show airs on the first Friday of every month on WPVM 103.7 FM (Asheville) and plays encore episodes every Friday after. The show is also in the process to receive national syndication starting in August.
We pay an honorarium of $25 per piece upon publication, and we are working on hopefully being able to pay more in the near future. We are volunteer-based.
TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK: please send your essays and articles to firstname.lastname@example.org.
DEADLINE: Monday, July 23 for consideration for the August show! // or ongoing & rolling submissions for September onward. For more info, see: http://www.dirty-spoon.com
