Catherine Campbell is a writer, editor and brand strategist. Her writing appears in The New York Times, McSweeney's, Writer's Digest, The Millions, The Rumpus, Brain, Child Magazine, Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, and elsewhere.
She is Editor-at-Large for The Dirty Spoon, an online journal and radio show that features personal stories, original art and music themed around the people behind our meals and the food & bev service industries.
During the day, Catherine directs Bright Planning, a marketing and PR agency that primarily represents brands and individuals in the food and bev world: restaurants, chefs, authors, artisans and others. She is passionate about stories, food, homesteading, Appalachia, and sustainability.
Catherine holds a B.A. in Creative Writing (UNC-Asheville), her M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Queens University), and formerly taught as an adjunct professor in Lenoir-Rhyne University’s M.A. Writing program. She is a member of the National Book Critics Circle, Association of Writers and Writing Programs, and N.C. Writers Network.
She was born and raised in the N.C. Appalachian Mountains. Catherine lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her son Thaddeus and her husband, the writer Brandon Amico.
She is currently working on a novel and essay collection.
